Devin Haney has reportedly dropped his lawsuit against Ryan Garcia and Kingry has agreed to use VADA as the drug testing agency for the rematch. As such, the second fight between the two is underway. However, it has not been made official yet.
Reporter Cynthia Conte broke the news, and Haney posted her reaction, saying Ryan isn’t a “duck” because he agrees to her terms. The two fighters met with Turki Al-Sheikh last Saturday, presumably to discuss the rematch.
Conte says the condition for Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) to drop his lawsuit was that Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) agree to VADA, which he has now done. No word on if this will be fought at a catchweight, when or where it will happen. Haney said in an interview last Saturday that his next fight would be at 143 or 144.
Haney, 26, and his father, Bill, want that fight. They need this match to restore their credibility after Ryan’s complete destruction of the hitherto undefeated two-division world champion on April 20th.
Going into the fight, many people thought Ryan had gone crazy due to his strange behavior. He acted like he was ready to be taken Bellvue Mental Hospitaland completely fooled everyone with his act. It was the perfect performance by Ryan.
When he got in the ring, he immediately rocked Haney with a left hook in the first round and beat him like a drum. In the last four rounds of the fight, it appeared Ryan intentionally let Haney survive so he could continue beating him senseless. It was hard to see.
Last April, Ryan upset Haney and beat him by a 12-round majority decision at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Haney was knocked down three times in the fight, once in the 7th, 10th and 11th. The scores were 114-110, 115-109.
A very reliable source told me that Devin Haney has officially dropped his lawsuit against Ryan Garcia IF he agrees to do VADA. Garcia has agreed to do VADA and the rematch is underway! #boxing
