The ex -Clicet Control Consell in India (BCCI), a member of the Selection Committee, Salil Ankola, is furious with the main selector, Ajit Agarkar, for the abuse of Shreyas Iyer.

The selectors chose a strong team that saw Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube and Harshit Rana, among others, they have a good support despite not so good performances at IPL 2025.

Shubman Gill also paid T20i after heavy speculations and also handed over the vice-chief. However, an important name that was not found in the workforce was Shreyas Iyer.

Iyer did everything that is required of a player to attract the attention of the selectors. He was extraordinary with the bat on the domestic cricket, in the home series against England and the ICC Champions Troophy 2025.

Shreyas Iyer then level and removed the beast mode to IPL 2025, scoring 604 rolls to an incredible average of 50.33 and an excellent strike rate of 175.07.

He brought the kings Punjab (PBKs) to the final of the IPL 2025, and many experts supported him to make his T20I return to the Asia Cup due to his red form, but that did not happen, and he was snatched.

I bewilded that Shreyas has not been chosen even in the list of five reservations men: Salil Ankola

When Ajit Agarkar was asked about Iyer’s non -selection, he said that the batter did a good job, but there is no room for him in the current India T20i configuration.

Former BCCI selector, Salil Ankola, however, was not pleased with the justification of Agarkar Ajit. Ankola said he was impacted to see the absence of Shreyas Iyer and Yasasvi Jaiswal on the Asian Cup template.

However, he added that Iyer did not even remain in Standbys was a bewildering decision after everything he has done on the 20 -on -20 cricket.

“It is amazing and impactful that the performers proven such as Iyer and (Yasasvi) Jaiswal are not on the Asia Cup template in India, while others who have just found a place. I am bewildered that Shreyas has not been chosen even on the list of five men’s reserves despite doing well in the IPL this year,” said Ankola to Mumbai Mirror

Will also be part of the leadership group – Irfan Pathan

Following the announcement of the squad, the former Ritme of India Irfan Pathan headed to X to support Shreyas Iyer and stated that Batsman will be back in India T20i very soon and also in a leadership role.

“There is no doubt in my mind that @shreyasayer15 will not only be next to the T20, but will also be part of the leadership group. Patience is the key to him at the moment,” Irfan Pathan wrote in X.

Meanwhile, the former pattern of the Indian Cricket National Team, Mohammad Azharuddin, has called it a great surprise.

“Shreyas Iyer left the squad. Great surprise,” wrote Mohammad Azharuddin in X.
