Tyson Fury made a retirement announcement today on Instagram, letting his followers know that he is ending his 16-year professional career. It was a predictable melodramatic move from the Gypsy King after losing for the second time to Oleksandr Usyk on December 21st. I predicted this childish movement. Man, I can read this guy like a book.
Fury has made a ton of money with his massive Fortune of 160 million dollars. So if he’s serious and not doing it to lure Turki Al-Sheikh into paying him $100 million or more for his next fight, he’s done well for his career.
With limited talent, Fury used his win against a 39-year-old Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 and transmuted that win to amass massive wealth. What a rush.
I wonder why Fury didn’t start crying during his retirement spot. That would have been classic. I still can’t forget how he was almost in tears being interviewed after being booed after getting a controversial decision against ‘Big’ John McDermott in his first fight.
If this is a real retirement and not a fake one, I’d say go for it and don’t let the door hit you on the way out, Fury. It’s nice to get rid of some of the weak fighters who have been given an exalted place by the naive people who follow him.
similar Fagan from Oliver TwistFury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) looked downright awful in his recent loss against Usyk. He could do nothing in that fight and was reduced to retreat. All the instructions given to him by his well-meaning trainer, SugarHill Steward, were completely ignored because he couldn’t follow any of them. Fury has never been one to follow instructions or adapt during fights. It’s not much to listen to.
“I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been a blast. I’ve loved every minute of it… See you on the other side,” Tyson Fury said Instagram in his retirement announcement today.
