Metcalfe remembered feeling “very grateful” for the experience, adding, “I was just kind of riding the wave, you know, because that show really broke me and I was born and I was coming to me and I only enjoyed it.”

“A matter of fact, there are many stories about all the drama on that set between some of our leading women,” Metcalfe noted. “And I was like, I was forgotten, basically, you know, because I was so glad to be on a show and just so in the moment.”
Desperate Housewives, broadcast on ABC between 2004 and 2012, followed a group of women living on Wisteria Lane’s fictional street as they weathered a series of personal issues over the span of eight seasons. Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria and Nicollette Sheridan were the original main cast. (Sheridan left earlier, firing the rumors.)
While the show became very popularThere was speculation about tension on a set. Sheridan’s exit came from the show after season 5 after public problems with the creator Cherry Mark. There were also questions about where Hatcher, 60, stood with the rest of her costars.
“I will never reveal the true and complicated journey of us all, but I would like everyone on this show well,” wrote Hatcher by email to a TV guide in 2012. “Marc created a prestigious street out of a thin air called Wisteria Lane with its picket fences, its flowers always in bloom … phrase ‘once in a lifetime.’ “
Longoria, 50, meanwhile, question the narrativeSharing on the podcast “Arm Chair Expert” in November 2023, “I remember even back then it was a narrative about women. Because all these shows were with men on the air, and no one was like, ‘They fight!'”

I’m like, ‘(people) say we are fighting.’ They’re like, ‘Well, they just do on women because we’re over 40 on a TV show.’ And I was like, ‘yes.’ I wasn’t even so smart to understand that, ”continued Longoria. “Anything that happened outside the show, we were like, ‘What?’ We could never come up for air to get outside ourselves.
