Mayor of New Orleans and Amateur Guard are accused of fraud and corruption

The mayor of the new Orlean and her guards were accused of fraud and corruption about claims that they used state funds for allegedly romance.

On Friday, the prosecutors said that the Lato Cossack had developed “personal, intimate relationships” since Jeffrey Lapp since October 2021, while he was part of her defense team.

From now on, the couples were accused of retirement in June 2024 of Mr. Lappe performed his duties when they actually engaged in “personal activity”, including during 14 separate internal and international trips.

Neither the compinent nor the Mr. Vappie publicly commented on these accusations.

The city of New Orleans told The Associated Press that he was aware of the allegations and that the mayor’s lawyer was considering them.

Federal prosecutors claimed that Cossack and Mr. Vappie used a safe platform to share WhatsApp messaging and its automatic delet feature, exchanging thousands of messages to “perpetuate their further fraud”.

This allowed the couple to hide their relationship and their allegedly illegal activity, the prosecutor’s office said.

Being in the new Orleans, they considered an apartment belonging to the city as its personal, general residence and spent the time there, and Mr. Vappe claimed that he was on duty and paid for his work, the prosecutors say.

They also said that they made personal trips – including the vineyard in California to take part in the wine tasting – while Mr Vappie is obliged to “maximize its time together” at $ 70,000.

When asked about these trips, Kancra had previously said she brought with her a bodyguard as a security issue of a pandemic. Prosecutors challenge this statement and quote cases where she traveled alone.

US Prosecutor Michael Simpson said their relationship was not a crime, but reflected “a long -term fraud scheme that used public money for personal purposes using their power and their powers,” CBS News, a US BBC partner.

At the undisclosed moment in their relationship, the representative of the public took pictures of the cord, and Mr. -en lunch together, and the latter are said to be on duty.

Cantrell filed a police report and appealed to a limited order against the person, prosecutors say.

Both are also accused of intimidation of subordinates, lies to the FBI agent and making false statements, making false statements to the big jury – whether or not to charge in certain cases in the United States.

If he is found guilty, any of the charges can bring long -term prison sentences and fines of up to $ 250,000 (184,000 pounds).
