Andi Dorfman Explains Why Her Newborn Daughter Is ‘Fully Formula Fed’

Andi Dorfman took to social media to explain why she was a newborn girlHarper, is “fully formula fed.”

Dorfman, 37, gave birth to the child, her first and she shares with her husband Blaine Harton December 20, 2024, honestly in her feed through a series of Instagram Stories on Thursday, January 9.

Revealing that fans DMed her, she went on to see if she had been breastfeeding her first child Bachelorette detailing his situation.

“Okay, first and foremost, my sister and I were formula-fed babies. So I feel like that was always in my plan,” Dorfman said. “And then I was going to use a breast pump to feed her breast milk, and that way I knew how much she was getting.”

Dorfman said her baby’s unexpected stay in the NICU, where Harper was formula-fed, changed her feeding plans.

“So I, in the hospital, tried to pump but my milk hadn’t come in yet,” Dorfman continued. “She actually did really well on the formula so we brought a lot of that home from the hospital. I tried to pump a couple of times when I got home and my milk supply still hadn’t come in.”

Dorfman continued, “So we stuck to the formula. And then, a big wrench was thrown in the plans — as you know, I ended up having to have surgery myself. So, I feel like, that hindered the pumping as well.” The reality TV star was referring to her return to hospital after she was discharged following the birth of her baby, as a result of two hematomas, which are closed wounds where pools of blood cannot drain out, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

Dorfman, who married Hart in Italy in May 2023, said she tried to pump “a couple of other times,” but was unable to produce any milk.

“The strange part is that I never had pain,” Dorfman added. “I had no engorgements, I didn’t have those side effects that people talk about when they stop pumping. I just kind of skipped over that. I don’t know if it’s because my milk supply never came in and wasn’t going to or if I missed the window of opportunity or honestly if it was just the plan making its own plan. But here we are.”

Andi Dorfman had “quick/safe treatment” at the hospital less than a week after giving birth. “Well, we’re back! Dorfman added that Harper is thriving as she approaches one month in the world. “I hope this story helps someone,” Dorfman said. “I don’t know why there is so much judgment and stigma around breastfeeding or formula feeding or not doing either. But that’s my story. We stick to it. “

The new mother appeared on Juan Pablo Galavis‘ season 18 of The Bachelor in 2014, before coming the next Bachelorette. On her term, Dorfman got engaged Josh Murray only to part from him within months.
