Yesterday, New York’s Yankees were affected by Houston Astros by 7-1, carrying their post-all-high record at 9-13. Shortly afterwards, the Mets missed the Milwaukee Brewers 5-0 on their way to a 7-6 loss, their eleventh in their last 12 games.
The Mets began yesterday in a roar, marking five runs at the first four entrances to the game to advance 5-0 at the top of the fourth entrance. However, the Brewers bounced again with five rolls combined in the fourth and fifth entry, reducing the leadership of the Mets to 6-5.
“There are long abs, there,” said Mets Pitcher Sean Manaeawho left three runs at the end of the fourth ticket before being replaced in the fifth, after the game. “I think the boys started seeing some things and only found things.
Despite the hard start of Manaea, the mets still brought an advantage to the eighth post. Unfortunately for the Amazines, a simple RBI of the Brewers short film Joey Ortiz tied things at 6-6.
“We haven’t played a little bit now.” said manager Carlos Mendoza in a postgame interview. “You know, that’s what happens. We can’t look at the standings. We have to start doing the job, (it’s) so simple. We can sit and start looking back; there is no look back. As I said, we have to do the job.”
After calling Edwin Díaz nearby to get the tie and force the additional tickets, he left a race at home winning at the fifth launch of the day, achieving the seventh loss of mets.
“I mean, they continue to meet some bat-bull,” said Mendoza. “I feel like we were in a position to win this game once you arrived in the eighth and you had two big boys ready to go -then, a break ball and could hit it outside the ball park.”
Unlike the mets, the Yankees never made their loss before Astros close. Ace Max Fried pitcher was searched for eight times and four earnings won at the first five entries of the game to put Houston ahead of 4-0.
“I mean, I felt my command today was quite good.” Fried said after loss. “But sometimes you pass spells. To be honest, I just have to be better. I just have to be better to locate, be able to launch and get more ground balls and I couldn’t.”
The Yanks approached Houston with a seventh RBI sacrifice of the seventh entry to reduce the leadership to 4-1. However, Astros scored three more runs into the ninth post to put the game out of reach.
“We need to be able to gather more than this,” said manager Aaron Boone while talking to media members after party. “I felt like we had good coincidences there and we couldn’t punch … I don’t think we were too aggressive or, in the other way, I thought the area was a bit all over the place, but at the end of the day we were only able to create a traffic, either through balancing the bats or our patience. We couldn’t do it today.”
Mendoza and Boone will not let these losses stay in their mind. The best thing they can do is prepare for the next games, so that they can start combing some wins.
“It is difficult to describe. Hardly. Frustrating. But we have to turn the page. We must move on,” said Mendoza. “We have to find a way to start victory here. It wasn’t a good show.
“We are in a position right now where we control things,” Boone concluded. “We are now in a playoff place, technically, and I think we have the people to do it. We have to play consistent baseball, period.”
Yankees are back in action tonight at 19:05 EDT against the Minnesota Twins. In the meantime, the Mets are today, but tomorrow they will take the Braves of Atlanta at 19:10 Edt.
