The Batman: Part II finally aiming for production. While I remain suspicious but exciting, it will be a torture time dealing with every rumor and a fluttering thidbit that is about to be released on -lein. God, I hate the culture droolbro nerd that will scour every pop funko! A figure for story clues as if they were themselves the world’s largest detective.
Already, Si hefty goes around that the Matt Reeves A sequence will include Robin at The Batman: Part II. So, like the residential bat-dork and as someone who has to churn articles, I probably prefer to go on the record with how I feel about this rumor.
As the headline says, I would like to see Robin in very much The Batman: Part II. A non-capable number of fans will wear their grimdark serious business uniforms and unscrew the existence of Robin as a truth and pull off Batman. These fans are welcome to come in line for the feed trough as Zack Snyder Poured out his next batch of cinematic gruel down their gullets.
Robin is an essential part of Batman’s story and a character necessary to explore the character of Bruce Wayne and what his real goals are in being a capped crucifix. Without Robin, Batman can only lean into darkness and isolation even more. End The batman Contains one of the most powerful scenes in the character’s film history; As he comforts a scared child about to be transported in a plane out of the city of Gotham under water, the voiceover tells us that Bruce realizes that Batman cannot be a symbol of fear and revenge. Batman needs to represent hope and he needs to inspire that in others.
That’s why Robin is so important to the trajectory of this Batman story. The Batman: Part II He has a great opportunity to show Bruce even more to that symbol of hope through the eyes of a younger character. And everyone online with a modicum of patronage already knows where this should be going.
In the comics, Jason Todd was the second Robin after Dick Grayson grew up and left to become a solo vigilante, Nightwing. The story in the comics has batman discovering Jason as he tries to steal the wheels from the batmobile. Jason is not a mournful child for the tragic loss of dead parents like Bruce and Dick. Only a child from the streets that Batman determines has a moxie.
Jason Todd makes all the sense in the world to be the cinematic robin The Batman: Part II. There is no need to even have a Dick Grayson character in that iteration. Having a batman taking a street child would create a thematic mirror with the last story we saw set in this universe, The penguin. And where that story went, The Batman: Part II can find a more hopeful ending with his young protein character.
Look, I love Batman and that means I love Robin too. He is a character that deserves another big screen shot and not in some cozy way like The dark knight rises. I am not looking forward to all the rumors we are about to overflow The Batman: Part IIBut in terms of this one, I hope he’s right on the money.
