Season 8 cast of the rookie: Who returns and what’s next

Fans must wait until 2026 for a brand new season of The rookie – but Weekly US Already know which cast members are, and they do not return.

Nathan Fillion

Fillion confirmed his return as officer John Nolan in April, in celebrating the Renewal of Season 8 announcement.

“I’ve been around long enough to know how truly challenging and it is rare to have a long -standing show. Thank you all for sticking around for these 7 seasons – because you are announcing season 8 !!” the actor wrote by Instagram. “Congratulations to @alexihawley and the amazing team that puts this show together. Alyssa Diaz

Detective Diaz, Angela Lopez, is safe from the cutting block going into season 8. She will be part of the LAPD force that works to bring down Monica and Oscar – when it eventually resurfaces.

Winter Eric

Winter will be back as Tim Bradford, who last saw supporters asked Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil) to move in with him, but she collapsed and not heard.

“I think that conversation (between them) confirms that conversation at the top of next season and counts what is the next step (or) the next step, that will be our premiere, right?” Hawley told Us in May, noting that the writers will “calculate it” how Tim and Lucy go on as a couple.

Winter, meanwhile, admitted Tvline In May he was uncertain how a team will proceed after putting his heart on the line. “I’m really curious about that,” he said. “He has to do a lot of damage management.”

Melissa O’Neil

O’Neil will re -appear his role as Lucy Chen, but the new sergeant on the night shift will not be much longer. “I don’t think it’s a barrier,” teased Hawley. “The challenge of the night shift was fun in the finale but eventually, I don’t think we’re going to live there for too long.”

The Executive Producer also told San Diego Comic Con fans in July that Lucy will plunge deeper into police work this season. “We have a Lucy indoor story we are currently working on in the writers’ room,” he said through People.

Cox will return as former Nolan Coaching Officer, Detective Nyla Harper this season. While her story line is not shared, Hawley reported Us In May fans will see more of Nyla and her husband, James Murray (Arjay Smith), after their rocky season 7.

“They’ve been through the fire a little sure,” said the Showrunner. “The inherent contradiction of his job and the job is still there. I think they have steered it for the time being. They are definitely in a stronger place than they said early in term 7.”

Richard T. Jones

Jones returns as Lieutenant Wade Gray and his wife, Luna (Angela Parker), he is expected to appear in several chapters as the couple still go strong.

Shawn Ashmore

Ashmore will repeat her role as attorney Wesley Evers, but Hawley told Us The marriage of his and Angela will not be experienced in the midst of Monica’s return. (The corrupted attorney Monica was dated Wesley before his relationship with the detective.)

“At this point Monica has such a bad blood with so many of our characters that I don’t know if she would shake things with Wesley and Angela,” said Hawley in the spring.

Lisseth chavez

Chavez has been playing Celina Juarez since season 5, completing her rookie training during season 7. She’s about to return for season 8 – and her romance with Rodge Bronson (Zander Hawley) He could continue, according to Hawley.

“I think they are both young, so I don’t know we need to define everything (and it doesn’t have to) turn into a relationship,” explained Hawley Us In May from the Celina and Rodge story line. “I’m not 100 per cent sure where it goes, but I think we’re ultimately aware that we have some very strong relationships on the show.”

Augustin Deric

Augustine joined the cast during season 7 as Rookie Miles Penn. For season 8, the actor has been regularly promoted to a series, Tvline Confirmed in July.

Previously said the showwrunner Hawley Us “Rookie Miles’ year is not over,” so the writers are “going to live in his rookie year for a while.” He teased, “I think there are many places to push. Patrick Kele’s neck

While fans thought it was the last they would see from Seth, Hawley told Tvline That may not be the case. “Something shocking deserved to happen” to that character, said the Showrunner in July, teasing, “and then we see where it is going.”
