Lion-Falcon preseason game suspended after Morice Norris injury

The Detroit Lions NFL preseason game with the Atlanta Falcons reached a sudden, emotional ending on Friday night after Morice Norris security was removed from the field in an ambulance after a serious injury.

The incident took place at 14:50 to the fourth quarter at the Mercedes-Benz stadium, as Norris sought to demolish the Rookie Falcons who came out again from Nathan Carter.

The 24 -year -old defender went to the grass and remained there when medical staff quickly precipitated his help.

Norris received a treatment in the field for about 20 minutes before placing himself on a stretcher and carefully loaded in an ambulance. He was transported to the Atlanta Memorial Hospital for a later assessment.

The Lions later confirmed that Norris was in stable state and had “feeling and movement at all its ends”, providing a relief measure for teammates and fans.

At the time of the injury, Detroit maintained a 17-10 advantage. With the remaining 6:31, Lions’ main coach, Dan Campbell and the main coach of Falcons, Raheem Morris, agreed to mutually end the time contest.

“Raheem is the final class act,” said Campbell. “We agreed that it didn’t feel good to finish this game. It’s a eye workshop. He does a little different and put things in perspective. The silver coating is the brotherhood: seeing that both teams meet and think of another player means a lot.”

The decision was made with the support of the players to both mothers. Lion Quarterback, Kyle Allen, said that from the moment the coaches asked for a bunk to be serious.

“You usually see a couple of coaches here. It’s never good when they take out stretching,” said Allen.

“We just prayed for him and we look forward to the best. When it takes so much and there are a lot of people around him, you just know that it is not worth playing.”

Falcon’s wide receiver, Casey Washington, echoed these feelings. “This is someone’s life and it is older than football,” he said.

Lions are expected to provide more updates to the state of Norris in the coming days, as they are preparing for their next preseason departure.
