WPL 2025 to be held at 4 venues as BCCI takes historic decision


The Board of Control for Cricket a India (BCCI) plans to expand the Women’s Premier League (WPL). According to reports in the Times of India, it is learned that the governing body is looking to host the next edition of the tournament at four venues across India.

The 2025 edition of the tournament is ready to be played BombayLucknow, Bangalore and Vadodara. Reports further add that the third edition of the tournament is all set to begin in Mumbai, with the final to be held at the new Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.

A source close to the developments confirmed that the league would be played at four venues in Mumbai, Lucknow, Bengaluru and Vadodara. Speaking to the Times of India, he has confirmed that the tournament will be played in four phases.

“The WPL-3 is likely to be held at four venues – Mumbai, Lucknow, Bengaluru and Vadodara, each of which will host the tournament in four phases. The event is likely to start in Mumbai, with the new Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara ready to organize the final”.

If reports are to be believed, then it will be a big step forward for women’s cricket in India. The BCCI, over the past few years, has been working hard on the development of women’s cricket, and it is paying off.

The final of the event is likely to be contested between March 8 and 9. The league will have 23 matches in 4 stages, and will be a great boost for the teams as well as the players. By holding the tournament at multiple venues, the BCCI aims to spread the game across the country.

The WPL 2025 auction took place recently and all the franchises strengthened their squads. Royal Challengers Bengaluru are the defending champions of the tournament after batting Capitals of Delhi in the final to win, bringing the first title for the franchise in the history of franchise cricket.
