US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet in Alaska next Friday Discuss the future of the war in Ukraine.
Trump announced the meeting on August 15 in social media, and later he was confirmed by the Kremlin’s press, who said the location was “rather logical”, given Alaska’s relative proximity to Russia.
The secretary -secretary added that Trump was invited to Russia for a potential second summit.
There was no immediate reaction from Ukraine.
The announcement of the meeting took place a few hours after Trump gave the sign of Ukraine, he may have to concede the territory to end the war that began with a full -scale invasion of Russia in his neighbor in February 2022.
“You look at the territory that fought for three and a half years, many Russians have died. Many Ukrainians died,” Trump said on Friday.
“It’s very difficult. We’ll be back, we’re going to switch. There will be some replacement of the territories to improve both.”
The US president has not submitted more information on what the proposal will look like.
However, American partner BBC CBS NewsReferring to the sources, familiar with the discussions, reports that the White House is trying to shake European leaders to accept an agreement that includes Russia, which accepts the entire Donbass region in eastern Ukraine and keeping Crimea.
The CBS company would abandon the Khherson regions and the Cavenitz, which it partially occupies under the proposed agreement, CBS reports.
Earlier on Friday, The Wall Street Journal reported that Putin proposed a similar agreement to weakened Trump Steve Witco during a recent meeting in Moscow.
It remains unclear whether Ukraine and European allies will agree to such a case, given the President of Ukraine Loladimir Zelensky and Putin will remain far from each other on the terms of peace.
Zelensky brutally rejected any prerequisites for territorial concessions.
One high -ranking White House official said CBS that the meeting planning next Friday was still flowing, and it is still possible that Zelensky would participate in a certain quality.
Moscow has not been able to reach a decisive breakthrough in a large -scale invasion, but occupies about 20% of Ukraine. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian offensives did not push the Russian forces back.
Three rounds of direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia could not bring the war closer to the end, and Moscow’s military and political prerequisites are perceived by Crai and its allies as actually the surrender of Ukraine.
Russian demands include Ukraine, which becomes a neutral state, sharply reducing its military and abandoning its NATO aspirations, as well as the rise of western sanctions imposed on Russia.
Moscow also wants Kiev to abandon its troops from four regions, which Russia partially occupies in the southeast of Ukraine and demobilize its soldiers.
However, on Friday, Trump insisted that the United States had a three -story peace agreement between the countries.
“European leaders want to see peace, I believe that President Putin wants to see peace, and Zelensky wants to see peace,” he told reporters.
“President Zelensky must get all his all he needs, because he will have to prepare to sign something, and I think he works to do it,” Trump said.
Last month, Trump confessed to BBC In the end, all four previous visits by Vitco, Putin disappointed him after the negotiations first led to optimism.
In recent weeks, he has hardened his position against the Kremlin, introducing the term on Friday to agree to cease fire in Ukraine or threaten more sanctions.
But, as the term approached, the economic threat was rapidly marred by plans to meet Trump and Putin personally to discuss the potential peace deal.
On Friday, there were no reports of further sanctions in Russia from the White House.
Trump and Putin spoke in February in the first direct exchange between the leaders of the two countries after Russia’s full -scale invasion.
The last time the US president met with Putin was in 2021 when Joe Biden met with Russian President at the Switzerland summit.
