Chelsea 2-0 Bayer Leverkusen: Report, result and goals as Blues impresses in front of the new campaign

The Chelsea produced a professional exhibition and composed of the Stamford Bridge to see Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 in a preseason friend.

The goals in half of Estevao and Joao Pedro said that the world champions were a good value for their victory.

The Blues started brilliantly, immediately putting in Leverkusen under pressure with a succession of the early corners.

In the first 10 minutes, Marc Cucurella, Estevao and Cole Palmer combined well on the left, trying Mark Flekken on the visitors’ goal.

Andrey Santos and Malo Gusto tried their luck from a distance, while Liam Delap forced to save nearby.

Leverkusen had his moments on the pause, with Alex Grimaldo, who was the main threat of spacious areas, forcing Philip Jorgensen to two long -range smart savings.

But the first breakthrough took place in the 18th minute after a wave of pressure from Chelsea. Palmer hit the bar from an angle tight after the Cucurella cross, and from the consequence, Delap saw his effort saved.

The rebound finally fell to Estevao, who reacted the fastest to break a left foot shot in the upper corner from the nearby range, giving the Blues a well-deserved 1-0 and scoring their debut with a goal.

The rest of the first half saw Chelsea in control without adding to his advantage.

The only concern on the side of Enzo Maresca came from a couple of injuries that caused stops, especially to Nathan Tella and Malo Gusto, but Chelsea arrived in the middle of the time without any fear.

The second half started with the two managers who went to their banks. Chelsea made wholesale changes, introducing Reece James, Pedro Neto, Joao Pedro, Jorrel Hato, Dario Essugo and Tosin Adarabioyo, while Leverkusen took Jeremiah Mensah.

The hosts maintained their intensity, creating shooting opportunities for Estevao, Tyrique George and Pedro Neto, although Mark Flekken continued to work well on the net.

Leverkusen tried to find a foot, with Patrik Schick watching a nearby range strike and substitute Victor Boniface blinked in the afternoon.

In the final 15 minutes, Chelsea seemed more likely to mark. Neto tried Flekken twice from a distance, while Hato and Gittens combined for another opportunity.

The introduction of Ben Hawighorst and Alejo Sarco de Leverkusen offered little attacking spark, and the visitors became more and more forced to fail to stop Chelsea transitions.

The second goal came in the 90th minute. A steep passage by midfield allowed Joao Pedro to find space in the center of La Caixa.

Brazilian drilling a low right shot on the lower left corner, finally surpassing Flekken and sealing victory

For Leverkusen and Erik Ten Hag, this was a frustrating evening. They had possession spells, but lacked penetration. Flekken was his prominent performer, avoiding a heavier defeat with several good savings.

For Chelsea, this victory will please both players and supporters.

The expectations will be in the new season and it seems that this blues will compete just at the end of 2025-26.
