Ghana President John Maham promised a complete investigation into the helicopter crash on Wednesday, which killed two state ministers and six other people.
Defense Minister Edward Oman and Minister for Environmental, Science and Technology Ibrahm Murtal, 50, were among the killed when a military aircraft crashed in the central region of Ashant.
In a television address to the nation, Maham said that the catastrophe is a “personal loss” for him.
“I shared the connection with many of those who died. Our nation is mourning,” he said.
The Z9 helicopter, which transported three crews and five passengers, descended into a thick forest when he flew from the capital of the Aku, to the city of Abuai, to decide illegal mining. There were no survivors.
The bodies of eight dead were restored from the scene, and samples were sent to South Africa for judicial identification and analysis.
The Deputy Coordinator of the National Security Ghana and former Agriculture Minister Alhagi Munira Mohammed was also among the dead, as well as Samuel Sarpong, vice-chairman of the National Democratic Congress party.
On August 15, the state will be buried for the victims, AFP reports.
The authorities did not confirm the cause of the disaster, but Maham confirmed that the flights and voice records were received and that the Ghana’s armed forces “initiated a complete and transparent investigation.”
Ghana’s meteorological agency predicted extraordinarily cold weather in August, and recent rains and light showers caused foggy conditions in many forest areas. Local farmers near the scene reported the morning fog when the helicopter flew over their heads.
One eyewitness told the BBC that the helicopter was flying at an “unusually low height” and the weather was bad.
He said he heard the sound of a helicopter passing by and behind him a “loud sound” and then an “explosion”.
“It was then that I realized that the helicopter exploded. So I hurried to the place to find out if I could find survivors,” he said.
The farmer said that when he got to the scene, “no one was saved.”
This is the most deadly of the three individual emergency incidents related to Ghana’s helicopters in recent years.
In 2020, Ghana Harbin Z-9 Air Force helicopter made an emergency landing near Tamal Airport, and last year, another helicopter Ghana’s Air Force made an emergency landing in Bonsou in the western region of Ghana.
Many Ghana shocked news and still fight the news. The images are supposed to show the burnt residues of the helicopter, spreading in social media.
President Maham rejected all his planned events for the rest of the week and announced three days of mourning since Thursday.
The flags of the country fly for six months.
The crew members were named the leader of the squadron Peter Bafemi Anal, flying officer Manin Truum Compad and Sergeant Ernest I will give Mens.
Baam served as a preliminary government as Minister of Communications, and before that he was the Minister of the Environment. As a defense minister, he was engaged in the activity of jihadists who drank on the northern border in Burkin -fas.
In 2022, the NGO, based in France, said his studies showed that jihadist groups had gained 200 to 300 young people.
Violence in the region is also increasing, with concern that jihadists can try to use utilities between rival communities in northern Ghana.
The book of Baam “Peace Man in the African Democracy” about former President John At Mills was to be published later this year.
Mohammed found himself in the forefront of the battle against illegal production of gold, which destroyed the environment and contaminated rivers and lakes.
Protests against practice, known for the local level of Galams, reached the maximum during Mahama’s Bachas last year.
