“I didn’t think I’d live a re -live experience, lose Tom first and now lose Phoenix,” Kelsey told the UK Mirror A newspaper in an interview published on Thursday, August 7. “But I think with any grief and loss, you have to take every day as it comes to work through it.”
Kelsey proved the Lost her husband TomBest known as a fifth of The Wanted Boys Band, in March 2022 after being diagnosed with final brain cancer. He revealed that he had a non-executive step-four glioblastoma in September 2020.
Kelsey said Little Phoenix’s loss had been hard on her two children with Tom – Aurelia, 6, and Bodhi, 4 – who still mourn the loss of their father.
“For the children, it breaks my heart for them because we obviously wanted the happy ever after and had a Phoenix, but that didn’t go out to us,” shared the Podcaster. “I spoke about it as I did with Tom, I told them the truth. I think that’s all you can do with your children, in anything you go through, be honest. Because I think people underestimate their children and what their children can cope with. Children don’t have many ears and they listen to many conversations.”
According to Kelsey, experiencing the losses of their father and little brother has made a little of Aurelia and Bodhi comfortable with the subject of death.
“I think for them, it actually makes it easier because they have gone through a loss, they understand what death is,” he said. “We’re almost like the Addams family because we’ve gone through so much death and darkness. The children are well aware.”
She added, “Aurelia likes to tell people that her father has died and her brother has died. She will say it openly, but it is other people’s responses. They cannot cope with how honest and open we are.”

Kelsey also revealed that Tom’s parents, Dosage and NigelRally around her since she lost Phoenix in June.
“I call Noreen all the time we always talk,” he told the Mirror. “We spoke to each other every day since losing Phoenix and she was just as devastating as every family member because she wanted that happiness for me and the children.”
