When the Buffalo Bills host the Denver Broncos in a wild-card playoff game on Sunday, fans from both cities will be able to enjoy the Battle Boat – hippo menu item at Highmark Stadium, recently highlighted by a social media content creator.
The Battle Boat is a 2-foot display of spicy waffle fries with food from two NFL cities. One half is filled with Buffalo staples, while the other contains culinary delights from the opposing team’s location.
Cameron Guzzo, 26, of Massachusetts, said he decided to take a look at the fry-filled monstrosity during a recent trip to Buffalo for the Stadium Food Review series.

“Every stadium I go to, I try to see if they have crazy food, something that draws attention, something funny,” Gutso told Fox News Digital. “These videos seem to be really good and people really enjoy seeing the weird side of them.”
A civil engineer with a passion for bills despite living in New England Patriots territory, Guzzo said he wouldn’t have known about a battle boat if not for the letter from the team.

“It’s kind of a hidden corner that you won’t see if you’re just walking around the hall,” Guzzo said.
Luckily for him, he said, he received an email that had suggestions for food at the stadium.

“That’s the only way I knew about it,” he said. “And I’m glad because it was one of the coolest products I’ve ever seen at a sports event.”

Battle Boat was available at Highmark Stadium throughout the 2024 season. But it made its debut during last season’s wild-card playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, albeit under a different name, Delaware State spokesman Glenn White told Fox News Digital.
Delaware North controls the food at all Bills home games.
Known at the time as “fries,” the 2-foot arrangement of fries was topped with Buffalo chicken and blue cheese on one half and sliced pastrami, coleslaw and shredded cheese on the other.
He was given a new name for the next divisional playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs, White said.

The concept stuck — but it took a child to come up with a permanent name during the day you brought your child to work at Delaware North’s headquarters.
“We struggled to come up with a name that was consistent and catchy, so our (executive chef) Stephen Foreman asked all the children present on the day for their input, and ‘Battleboat’ came up, which was the clear winner,” — White said. .

Although the gunboat costs $28, Guzzo said it’s worth it.
“The week I had it, it was a Greek theme, so it was chicken souvlaki, Greek dressing and feta,” Gutzo said. “And then the other side changes dramatically for the opposing city.”
He was there for a game against the New York Jets.
“Food trumps all.”
“It was New York themed,” Guzzo said. “It was marinara meatballs and mozzarella cheese.”
Guzzo had no guesses as to what might be in store for Sunday’s game against the Broncos.

“The only thing I’d heard of before going to Denver was Rocky Mountain oysters,” Guzzo said, adding that he “wouldn’t like it on the (other) side of waffle fries.”
He won’t have to worry. The Bills and Delaware North announced that the Denver half would be “repleted by Denver Omelet: scrambled eggs, peppers, onions and pancetta.”

As for the next NFL stadium meal that Guzzo will be chronicling, that’s an unreleased product, “so I can’t talk too much about it right now.”
Still, Guzzo said, he realized that “food trumps all.”
