Tottenham President Daniel Levy says he hopes that fans will appreciate his legacy only once he turned away from the club.
Levy has maintained its reins in Spurs since 2001 and has often been a dividing figure among supporters.
Although the club has seen great breakthroughs in infrastructure during its term, especially the construction of the latest last generation of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the fans have stated frustration due to the lack of trophies and the inability to capitalize on its seasons such as its title of the Premier League pushes 2016 and 2017 or the memorable career of the 2019 League final.
Last season encapsulated much of this tension. Despite a disappointing league final of 17 places, the lowest of the club in the era of the Premier League, Spurs succeeded in ending its long silver drought by defeating Manchester United in the end of the Europa League.
However, this success was not enough to be criticized. Then the Manager Ange Postecoglou, who was fired a few days after raising the trophy in Bilbao, avoided much of the fault of Spurs’s domestic collapse.
Instead, fans directed his rage to Levy, and was responsible for the club’s perceived stagnation.
In a statement to Gary Neville on overlap, Levy addressed this critique.
“I think it’s one of those situations (in which) when I’m not here, I’m sure I will get the credit,” he said.
“When you come here and look at this wonderful (stadium) and the fact that other clubs try to copy what we do, it should be a sign that we may do something daring and something good.”
Opened in 2019 at the site of the old White Hart Lane, the 60,000 -seat enclosure has quickly established itself as one of the main stages in Europe.
It hosts NFL games, important concerts and other events, helping to raise Tottenham’s overall profile.
However, this out -of -step growth has not been reflected by a constant achievement in the field.
“Nothing has changed in terms of our ambition,” Levy insisted. “After winning the Europa League, thanks to Ange, you have a flavor, but it is not enough. It has never been enough.
“We have been at 16 or 17 semifinals, seven finals and we haven’t won enough.
“We know we have to use it as a springboard to keep winning. We have won two trophies in the last 20 years. We have been so close, so many times.”
It is pressured why the Spurs have struggled to translate the potential into constant success, Levy offered a sincere admission.
“I really can’t answer (why), because I’m not the one who chooses the team, motivates the team.”
With Vista, Levy is doing his faith in the new main coach Thomas Frank, who joined Brentford after the postcoglou departure.
Frank will lead Spurs to the Premier League 2025-26 campaign with his first competitive party established for August 16 in Burnley.
It will do so without the icon of the Club Heck-Min Soh, who leaves after a decade of service. The South Korean striker received a heart farewell in the Sunday preseason match against Newcastle in Seoul.
When the Spurs enter a new chapter, Levy requested realistic patience and expectations.
“He gets the football style we want to play,” said Levy about Frank. “He understands that Rome was not built in a day. We have not set it up,” you have to win the league this year. “We just want to compete at the highest level.
“We will support it to the maximum of our capacity. If we look at the transfer fees, we have been in the first four pins since the stadium opened, we have spent about £ 700 million on the new network.”
