Horse racing, college basketball games postponed due to devastating wildfires in Los Angeles region

Forest fires ravaged the surrounding area in Los Angeles in recent days.

More than 12,000 homes were destroyed by the raging fires, which killed at least 11 people.

A wildfire outbreak on the city’s west side led to the latest evacuation order, forcing Santa Anita to cancel plans for this weekend jumping the event.

However, Pepperdine’s Malibu campus remains free of any immediate fire-related threats. But access to the campus is limited from the north side. Pacific Coast Highway south of campus is closed.

Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount are communicating with the West Coast Conference on transfer.
