Tottenham’s son, Heck-Min, described his farewell on Sunday as a “perfect moment” after finishing his Spurs career throughout the decade in front of southern Korea’s house fans.
The 33-year-old striker was visibly emotional during the 1-1 draw with Newcastle United in Seoul, breaking down in tears while receiving a permanent ovation and a player’s honor guard on both sides when replaced just after the time mark.
“It was a perfect time,” Son said to the Official Website of Tottenham.
“Sharing these beautiful moments is something that I will never forget and I will always be grateful for the fans, the players and the gaffer.
“He understood my situation and was always on my side. He always listened to me and asked me what he wanted to do. I have a huge respect and I am very grateful.”
Reflecting on its ten years in northern London, Son wished the club more than success in the future.
“I wish them the best. There are five competitions ahead and I hope they win the five competitions. This is my wish.
“Spurs will always be in my heart and boys will always be in my history books. It was amazing.
“It’s been so fast, ten years old. I can only think about the beautiful moments, amazing moments.”
Son leaves Tottenham as one of the great modern ones in the club, has scored more than 150 goals since his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, winning the Premier League Golden Boot and capturing his side by his first trophy in 17 years.
