The funniest movie of this decade and makes the impossible

In the 1970s and 1980s, Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, pioneered a completely unique comedy -style Jerry Zucker and expressed it in such a funny series of films that the talk of any of them still makes people smile. Let’s try it right now. Plane! I saw your lips curling.

Until this week, when I saw the new version of The naked gunI would have said that the style is impossible to duplicate. But this movie, made without any help from the Zuckers (who proposed but rejected), makes it.

With apologies to 33 ⅓the 2025 Naked is the best Naked movie since then Naked gun 2. It may even be at the top of the second if Leslie Nielsen was still alive and the film’s leading role.

Instead, we get Liam Neeson as Frank Drebbin Jr. It is an inspirational choice. Nielsen began his career as a dramatic performer, and the genius of his comedy was his way of playing everything deadly and immediately. You do not need a comedian to duplicate that; You need a serious actor, a serious actor who is ready to be put in ridiculous situations.

Liam fills the role well. No one at the top of Leslie could, but it’s second best. He has real chemistry with the fellow star Anderson, gladly back on screen after small retirement.

I won’t waste your time with the plot, because of who worries. That’s not the point of these films. In the opinion The naked gunThere is a plot for unreleased writers who can’t make jokes. What is important is a The naked gun Funny, and hell yes, it is.

The genius of the past police squad records was how hard they worked to be funny. As the Police squad Leslie Nielsen’s TV and Films Series, every moment of this new Naked stuffed with jokes. There is no piece of dialogue or frame in the film that is not at least trying to be funny. Most of the time, it succeeds.

There are so many jokes of so many kinds that laughter is guaranteed unless you are in the 5% of human beings who don’t have a sense of humor (yes, that’s a real statistic). You are likely to laugh at almost all. It’s that good.

Here’s my favorite piece: Frank reads a criminal rap sheet and says, “He says here you’re doing 25 years for laughing a man.” Liam Neeson’s dramatic pause here. “It must have been one hell of joke.”

The naked gun is one hell of joke. This is the funniest film of the decade. Go and have a laughter.
