Dave Coulier Gives Candidate Cancer Update: ‘In Fight or Flight Mode’

Full House a star Dave Coulier shared a candid update about his ongoing cancer treatment.

“The side effects have side effects,” says Coulier, 65, in the latest episode of his “Full House Rewind” Podcast. published on Friday, January 10. “And then you take a drug to counteract that and this and that. So it’s this constant cocktail where your body is in fight or flight and you’re trying to adapt to, ‘Okay, how do I adapt to steroids? How do I adapt to the chemo cocktail?’”

Coulier went on to say that his body was in a “constant battle.”

“It’s a bit of an internal struggle,” he continued.

In November 2024, the actor revealed that he had been diagnosed with Stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. In an interview with PeopleCoulier explained that he was first diagnosed in October of that year after experiencing an upper respiratory infection that resulted in severe swelling of his lymph nodes.

As a result, Coulier underwent PET and CT scans as well as a biopsy.

“Three days later, my doctors called me back and said, ‘We wish we had better news for you, but you have non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and it’s called B-cell and very aggressive,” Coulier told the outlet at the time. “I went, ‘I had a bit of a head cold’ to, ‘I have cancer’ and it was quite overwhelming. This has been a very quick journey.”

Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a type of cancer that attacks the body’s lymphatic system and affects “white blood cells called lymphocytes (which grow abnormally and can form growths (tumors) throughout the body,” according to the Mayo Clinic.

After publicly revealing his diagnosis, Coulier explained that he and his wife Melissa Come relied on the advice of friends who work in the medical field to create “a very specific plan for how they were going to treat” his aggressive form of cancer.

“That was really a conscious decision, I’m going to meet this principal, and I want people to know that’s my life,” Coulier explained in a November 2024 episode of his podcast in following the disclosure of his diagnosis. “I’m not going to try to hide anything. I’d rather talk about it and open up the discussion and inspire people.”

On Friday’s episode of his podcast, Coulier revealed that since sharing his diagnosis, he has “heard from so many people who have been affected by cancer in their lives.”

“I think the words of encouragement really helped people,” he said. “So that, for me, is worth the journey of all this. Just being able to warn people that it’s okay to have a colonoscopy or an early screening or a mammogram, it’s worth it.”
