The White House has announced plans to build a new $ 200 million ballroom (£ 151 million, fulfilling the often re -desire of US President Donald Trump.
The new ballroom will be built together with the “modernized” east wing of the White House, which currently houses the offices of the first Lady of Melania Trump and other key posts of the White House.
The money will be transferred directly to Trump and other as an anonymous anonymous donors, working since September, according to spokesman Carolina Levit.
Trump has repeatedly promised to build a “beautiful” ballroom in the White House, and in 2016 he offered to pay $ 100 million during Barack Obama’s administration, which threw the then president.
At a briefing for journalists at the White House on Thursday, Levit said that “a very necessary and exquisite supplement” to the White House will be approximately 90,000 (8.360 square meters) with a capacity of about 650.
Currently, the White House has many official White House functions that can accommodate about 200 people.
The new ballroom, Livit added, also eliminates the need for a “big and unattractive tent” to install state dinners and other great events that sometimes include world leaders.
According to Levita, the construction is expected to be completed “long before the end of Trump as of January 2029.
“The President and the White House of Trump are fully seeking to work with the relevant organizations to preserve the special history of the White House, creating a beautiful ballroom that future administrations and generations of Americans can use,” Susz Wils said in a statement.
The rendering of the White House shows that the ballroom will be similar to architecturally with the rest of the White House, with a lush interior, including chandeliers and decorated columns.
“The White House has an expansion story to meet the volatile needs of the head of the country,” said Leslie Green Bowman, who worked with four presidents of the White House preservation committee, BBC. “I hope and trust that any proposed changes will honor and preserve the existing walls that have witnessed such a great history. These are precious courts of our heritage as democracy.”
Currently, offices located in the Eastern Wings of the White House adjacent to the construction – including the first Lady of Melania Trump, will be temporarily refurbished.
President Trump has repeatedly expressed his wishes for the new ballroom within the framework of the White House, which already features the installation of two large flagships, new gold ornaments in the oval office and bulldozing and laying on the famous pink garden.
“There has never been a president that is well suited in ballroom halls,” Trump said at the White House event on Thursday. “I can build things.”
Trump added that “they always had to get tents” for great events in the White House, which he called the disaster. “This is not a simple spectacle.”
Earlier this week, during a meeting of Scotland with the President of the European Council, Ursula Van der Leyen Trump told her that “we are building a great ballroom in the White House.”
“No president knew how to build a ballroom,” Trump said, sitting in another ballroom at his Tunkberry Golf Resort resort. “I could take this one, throw it right there, and it would be beautiful.”
In 2016, when on the way of the company during the Barack Obama administration, Trump gloriously proposed to bring $ 100 million to build a new ballroom for the White House to use for events.
At that time, the then Minister of Pressure Josh Ernest said the proposal was “not something at all.”
“I’m not sure it would be advisable to have a brilliant Trump’s golden sign … In any part of the White House,” Ermosta told reporters.
