Finance Minister Scott Baby on Thursday expressed confidence that the US and China are on the way to trade in the pact as a key tariff term.

“I believe we have a transaction conclusion,” the CNBC said during an interview at Squawk Box. “There are still several technical parts that need to be worked out on the Chinese side between us. I’m sure it will be done, but it’s not 100%.”

The inflate did not submit any details about what the final deal with China will look like.

However, he stressed that he had not yet discussed the issue with President Donald Trump, noting that both parties that are negotiating for two days in the negotiations he characterized as “tough”.

“The Chinese are tough participants in the negotiations. We are also cruel,” he said.
