Former Colombian President Alvar URIE has been found guilty of fake witnesses

Alvara Uriebe became the first former president of Colombia to be convicted of the crime.

A 73-year-old guy, who was president from 2002 to 2010, was guilty of overcoming witnesses and allegations of fraud.

He was convicted of trying to bribe witnesses in a separate investigation of the allegations that he had a connection with the right paramillers responsible for human rights violations.

Each prosecution carries up to 12 years in prison. It is expected that Uribe will appeal the verdict, always supporting its innocence.

Uribe is most famous for raising an aggressive offensive against the left guerrilla group “Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC)” during his stay. He always denied ties with the right paramillers.

The former president was sitting his head when the verdict was read, AFP reports on a court showing more than 90 witnesses.

US Secretary of State Mark Rubio condemned the court’s decision, accusing the country’s judicial system of weapons.

“The only crime of the former president was to fight and defend his homeland tirelessly,” he wrote on the social media website.

The result comes for more than a decade after the URIBE was first charged in 2012.

At the time, he accused the left senator Ivan Sepeed of the plot against him. Uriebe claimed that the seped wanted to linked him falsely with the right paramilitary groups involved in the internal armed conflict of Colombia.

But the Supreme Court of the country rejected the claims of the former president against Seipeda, instead of investigating URibe about communication.

The former president was then accused of addressing the ex -bays and bibling them to deprive the paramilitary groups – fake key witnesses.

Uriebe said he wanted to convince former militants to tell the truth.

Varunic groups appeared in Colombia in the 1980s with the stated purpose – to take over poverty and marginalization. They fought with the Marxist guerrilla groups that fought with the state two decades before.

Many of the armed groups developed in the confrontation made a profit from cocaine trade. Violent and deadly struggles between them and the state have created strong rivalry for routes and trade resources.

Uriebe was highly appreciated by Washington for a fierce approach to Farc-Ale rebels was a separate politician whose critics say they had little improved inequality and poverty in the country.

Farc has signed a peace treaty with the successor of Urbe in 2016, although the Colombia is abused by disarmed groups.
