Donald Trump has introduced a new, short term Russia to agree to ceasefire over the war in Ukraine “ten or 12 days” on Monday.
The US president stated that there was no reason “waiting because there were no progress in peace.
Two weeks ago, Trump said President Vladimir Putin had 50 days To end the war or Russia, will face serious tariffs.
Speaking at a press conference in Scotland, Trump said he would confirm the new term on Monday or Tuesday, but once again confirmed the threat of imposing sanctions and secondary tariffs on Moscow.
Earlier in July, he stated that they would amount to a 100% tax imposed on any country traded with Russia.
This would make the goods so expensive that the American business would most likely decide to buy them cheaper from other places, which would lead to lost profits for both Russia and the country that trades with it.
Speaking after meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starr in Scotland, Trump again expressed his dissatisfaction with Putin’s actions in Ukraine, where military growths for three and a half years in full invasion of Russia.
While he refused to say whether Putin feels “false”, Trump emphasized the contrast between the rhetoric of the Russian president during their conversations one on one and the missiles “lobbying” on Ukrainian cities on an almost high basis.
“We had a ceasefire and perhaps peace … And suddenly you have missiles flying to Kiev and other places,” Trump lamented, adding that the negotiations would be possible, but now it is “very late”.
“I say, forget. I will not talk anymore. It happened too many times, and I don’t like it,” he said, although he also insisted that he and Putin always got along well.
Trump also stated that he was “no longer interested in negotiations” – a line that instantly broke out on major Russian media.
Putin has never commented on the terms. When the initial period of 50 days was announced for the first time, the Kremlin Socialist press, Dmitry Pesko, simply identified it as “very seriously” but added that it takes time to analyze.
Speaking to recent events on Monday afternoon, Russian MP Andrei Gurunov said that Trump’s ultimatum “no longer works … not on the front line, in Moscow”, and that Russia had the power of its “weapons, principles and will”.
When Trump first mentioned the shortening of the Ukrainian Presidential Chief Andrei Irmak, he praised him for “giving a clear message” and added that Putin “respects power”.
In recent months, Russia has strengthened attacks on Ukraine, launching drones and missiles in cities, pressing the summer offensive in the east.
Three round of ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, which are conducted by Turkey, led to the exchange of thousands of prisoners of war – but real progress was not made before the ceasefire.
After three and a half years of bloody conflict, it is unclear how both sides can reach the cessation agreement within 12 days.
All the prerequisites for Russia in peace – including Ukraine, which becomes a neutral state, sharply reducing the military and abandoning its NATO’s aspirations – are inadmissible for Kiev and Western partner.
Last week, the conversation, which lasted almost an hour, stated that the “breakthrough” in the negotiations was “hardly possible”.
