Pat McAfee He explained how being a “daddy dad” helped him realize his road error after spreading Si -Di -Sailing for an Ole Miss college student.
In February, McAfee, 38, discuss a viral story about Mary Kate Cornett allegedly sleeping with her boyfriend’s father. The story won even more draws after McAfee mentioned that on his ESPN talk show.
Cornett said that McAfee “Ruin her life” by discussing the rumorshe denied from the beginning.
“I have learned since then that the story was not true and that my show played a part in the Ing which was caused to a great family and especially for a young woman, Mary Kate Cornett,” McAfee said on Wednesday, July 23, Pat McAfee Show. “I think you all know from tuning to this program that I never want to be a source of negativity or contribute to the suffering of another human being.”
He continued, “I can now share with you that I recently met Mary Kate and her family. I had a chance to apologize sincerely to them and acknowledge that what I said about Mary Kate was based only on what others were saying on the internet or had been reported before by others, and that we had no personal information about Mary Kate or her personal life.”
McAfee detailed how his own experience as a father played a part in his desire to meet the Cornett family in person. The former -punter NFL and his wife, Samantha McAfeeShare a girl Mackenzie2.
“As a daughter’s father, I was also very grateful for the opportunity to let Mr Cornett know that I was wildly regretted for the part that our show played, our program in his daughter Mary Kate’s pain,” said Pat.
Pat admitted that it was a “fair question” to ask why he and his show took so long to tackle the debate and Cornett himself.
“As you would imagine, there was a lot happening behind the scenes since it all happened,” explains Pat. “The most important element on the timing is that I personally, I want to speak to the family first before tackling it in public. I can now say that I have had a chance to meet them, chat with them, and they are wonderful people.”
Pat suggested that the story could also provide some wisdom and insight into its viewers.
“My hope is that this can be something we can all learn from moving forward,” he said. “I know we have for sure. Our goal with this show is to make the world a happier place, a better place to celebrate life and sport and to unite people. I, and we, not always get it right. But we’ll never stop trying.”
