US president Donald Trump will visit the federal reserve system on Thursday, White House said, escaped his pressure on the chairman Jerom Powell.
This is for the first time in almost two decades when the US president will make an official trip to the Central Bank.
US presidents have traditionally respected the independence of the Central Bank, which is insulated both in law and in practice from political whims of elected officials.
Trump’s visit is a great symbolic step towards this independence, which will criticize Powell’s refusal to reduce interest rates to the chairman’s threshold.
On Wednesday, the White House published a schedule in which Trump would visit the Federal Reserve at 16:00 ET on Thursday.
Trump repeatedly criticized Powell for not having reduced interest rates even sailing the idea of shooting despite Legal issues over his powers to do so.
“I think he has done a bad job but it will still be pretty quickly,” Trump told reporters Earlier this week at the White House event.
Trump last week demanded from a group of republican legislators When shooting from Powell, before denying, he intended to remove the chair. “We do not plan to do it … I think it is very unlikely if he doesn’t have to go for fraud.”
Powell said his shooting was “prohibited in accordance with the law”.
While the former presidents criticized the previous chairs, no president tried to dismiss the chief Central banker.
