The International T20 League (ILT20) is all set for the third edition, which promises another exciting season of cricket in 2025. Here’s what you need to know about the tournament’s schedule, venues and key updates.
Tournament schedule and format
ILT20 Season 3 will start on 11 January 2025 and run until 9 February 2025. A total of 34 matches, including playoffs, will be held at three iconic venues in the UAE:
- Dubai International Cricket Stadium
- Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi
- Sharjah Cricket Stadium
The league will adopt a double-round format, where each of the six teams will face each other twice in the group stage. The top teams will then advance to the playoffs to determine the champion.
Team Updates ahead of Season 3
ILT20 teams have made key changes to their squads in preparation for the tournament. Here’s a look at the major updates:
- Abu Dhabi Knight Riders: First of England Phil Salt joins the team as a Wildcard player, while the Pakistan left-arm spinner Sufi Muqeem replace the unavailable one Hassan Khan.
- MI Emirates: Spinner from Afghanistan Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar has been added to the squad, strengthening their bowling line-up.
- Abu Dhabi Knight Riders: from Sri Lanka Vijayakanth Vijayakanth has stuck around, adding depth to his bowling attack.
Teams can make additional reinforcements or substitutions during the tournament in the event of player injuries or unavailability, ensuring competitive action throughout the season.
