Fans, musicians and former teammates paid tribute to Ozi Osbourne, the frontman of the pioneer group Heavi -metal Black Sabbath, who died at the age of 76.
Black Saturday “lost our brother,” says the co-founder of Tony Iomi, while Basist Terens “Giser” remembered his last concert, and the drummer Bill Ward shared them with a photo.
The death of a musical insult on Tuesday, announced by his family, occurred a few weeks after his band played with a farewell concert in his hometown of Birmingham.
“This is with more sadness than the simple words that we can say that we should report that our beloved Ozi Osbourne died this morning,” his family said. “He was with his family and surrounded by love.”
Osbourne, known for energetic and controversial live shows, inspired a whole generation of musicians.
The American Heavy Metallica band said that “it is impossible to convey in words” what Osbourne meant for them.
“Hero, icon, pioneer, inspiration, teacher and, most of all, friend – several who come to mind,” wrote Metallica Noah And Ross Halin on X.
The American rock -band Aerosmith called it “our brother on rock”, saying that his love “goes out on … millions around the world that felt his fire.”
Less than three weeks ago, the Prince of Darkness, which was performed in Birmingham, with the support of the many musicians he inspired, including Metallica and Guns ‘N’ Roses.
Billy Corgan, soloist The Smashing Pumpkins – one of the many bands that performed near them – said: “Some of the largest music performers in the world have traveled from around the world to be there to celebrate the legacy of this team.
“This is one of the greatest music moments in my life,” added Corgan, who tonight talked to BBC Radio 4’s The World.
“For him, he was so close to his death on July 5 and still stood up and spoke as he promised … Wow! It puts it in his own category,” wrote on Instagram, leading vocalist Van Halen, who also played at a farewell concert for Osbourne.
Others shared pleasant memories of the hero more than in Osbourne’s life.
The senior editor of the entertainment of Variety Jam Obad reminded him first met with Osbourne, he was “nervous” to meet the Prince of Darkness.
“It was just such a really bizarre scene,” Oswad BBC said.
Asbourne entered the room near noon in the robe, “just woken up”, wearing a lot of jewelry and accessories and “a lot of gold,” Obad said, though he added that Osborn was “quite good, perfect.”
Meanwhile, fans gathered in the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los -Angeles, where they put flowers on the star dedicated to Osbourne.
“Osbourne was more than a rock legend – it was a cultural icon that reworked the music and did not succumb to expectations,” said Ana Martinez, the producer of the venue.
Black Saturday were pioneers in the musical genre of heavy metals, wrote classic tracks such as paranoid, military pigs and iron.
After leaving the band in 1979, over the growth of tension with other members, Osbourna had a long solo music career, releasing more than a dozen albums. His debut single, released next year, Crazy Train is probably one of the most famous songs.
Osbourne survived his wife Sharon and six children, three of his two marriages.
