Manny Pacquiao showed his respect for WBC Welterweight, Mario Barrios, thanking him on social media for his battle last Saturday night. The 46-year-old Pacquiao (62-8-3, 39 kos), said that “he felt great” inside the ring after four years of inactivity.
Manny chose not to discuss the results of his struggle, which ruled a 12 -round majority tie. Pacquiao had told the media at the post-lluita press conference that he felt that he had won the struggle 8-4 and that he wanted a resale.
Pacquiao fans agree. They heard that he won the fight. However, the judges did well. Barrios got the best of Manny in six of the rounds. Pacquiao sold out after the ninth round, allowing Barrios to sweep the last three rounds of the fight.
What was disturbing was that Pacquiao said after the fight he will return and intend to continue. There is nothing positive that can come from Pacquiao fighting any of the highest fighters other than a paid day for him. He does not have the youth to overcome any of the good fighters in 147, 140, not even 135. He would lose the fighters outside the heavy weight division if he fought against the boys.
The advisor, Sean Gibbons, has said that he wants a larger name for the next Pacquiaso struggle that will provide PPV purchases. He mentioned Gervonta Davis and Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero.
It is widely believed that the direction of Pacquiao intentionally selected Barrios because he is the most vulnerable champion in 147. For all the prizes that Pacquiao has received, it seems bad that he chose what fans believe that it is the weakest bond among heavy weight champions instead of the best. They could have chosen the heavy weight champion of Wbo, Brian Norman Jr.
Promoter Eddie Hearn stated last Saturday that he would not end well for Pacquiao if he fought against Norman Jr. or ex -Campion Ibf and Wba Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. Those guys would not stood with punches in the way the Barrios did so strangely.
They would be downloaded to Pacquiao and probably removed quickly. What we saw of Manny last Saturday, would not last three rounds with Barrios or Ennis. He has lost too much of his game to be competitive against those fighters/ not just them. Other weights of Welters would dominate Pacquiao.
Thank you sir for keeping us safe in the ring. I want to thank my wife, children, my family, my team and everyone who supported me throughout this struggle.
In Mario Barrios, you are a true warrior. It was an honor to share the ring with you. Even after all these years, I felt … pic.twitter.com/wzixtxpkfp
