Rory McIlroy addresses a ‘ridiculous’ moment he immediately hit 2 golf balls

Rory McIlroy Could have made history when he struck two golf balls immediately during the 153rd Open Championship.

Competing in the third round on Saturday, July 19, McIlroy, 36, shook his wedge only to discover a second ball that, unknowingly, had been sitting underneath. As the second ball emerged, McIlroy exclaimed in a video shared by The athletic“Oh, my God.”

McIlroy quickly bent down to lift the second ball, before laughing alongside others. “There was a ball there!” said a publisher. “Oh, my gosh.” The athletic headline put the clip, “Rory McIlroy made another ball to appear.”

After the round, Mcilroy said he was “honest” unsure what had translated on the course. “That’s the most strange, ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen,” said McIlroy, per Neat. “Then my ball came out very strange and winding. Yes, so strange.”

“We came back a few weeks ago and moved to our new home in Wentworth (England) and we’ve been trying to settle in,” McIlroy told reporters in June. “It’s amazing what two weeks of a little disconnect can do for you.”

He added, “Sitting there with your own thoughts for a while. It has been nice to have this time to reflect and also to retry my excitement and enthusiasm for the rest of the year.”
