EHASTLY 4K Review: A miracle of recovery

Just a few months ago, we decided to cover Guardian On my weekly film club podcast, Genrevision. He had always been a favorite and we wanted him to exclude our theme Bill Paxton month. During that chapter (which you can listen to below!), We prayed that a 4K recovery would be on the road so that more people could find this hidden pearl.

Well, a few days after that episode hit the air waves, Liongate announced a 4K remaster and a limited edition of Guardian. Power of prayer may not work for natural disasters or save human beings from fascist oppressors, but it certainly seems to be working in terms of getting an incredible re-release of movies.

Because the Guardian 4K Limited Edition is a true miracle.

The movie

If you want my full, sensible thoughts, GuardianYour best bet is to listen to the Genrevision episode above. Enough to say, I love this movie. The story is a serial murderer mystery told from a back -to -a -little boy whose father believed he was killing devils in service to God.

Guardian was the first feature directed first appearance Bill Paxton who also stars as the murderous father. Paxton directed only one more film, The biggest game ever playedAnd it is a crime that we had no more instructional efforts. Guardian is a piece of filmmaking and controlled storytelling, measured. Paxton does not look down his nose on the material or the film. In a better world, people would recognize that Paxton made the best Stephen King’s movie That is not about Stephen King.

I do not want to put any of the goods in case someone finds Guardian For the first time. I will say that this film has a affectionate cast of experienced professionals like Powers Boothe and Matthew McConaughey, but Matt O’Leary and Jeremy Sumper must carry the film and they do a stunning mature job. That’s another goal in Paxton’s expert direction of actors, especially as he also has to play their father and keep that credibility while playing.

Again, look at the Genrevision episode for my full review of the film. However, I recommend that you enter Guardian As blind as possible because you will be rewarded with one of the most challenging, annoying and shocking horror games you have ever seen.

The new recovery and release

What I want to take this time to praise is the limited 4K edition statement. This has a beautiful artwork by Justin Erickson as well as one of my favorite pieces of bonus material ever: a copy of the shooting script for Guardian That has all Paxton handwriting notes on it. For those of us who love to see how the sausages are done, this is an invaluable tool for getting a behind -the -curtain glimpse.

Not to mention the loads of special features fed from the old DVD. The two-disc set features a 4K UHD disc as well as Blu-ray from the film. These have audio comments from Bill Paxton and Screen Writer Brent Hanley as well as a “make” feature, both staples of my film education during the 2000s DVD boom. It’s great to see these make their way to this version along with more

And finally the 4K recovery for Guardian Means that the film looks better than ever. There has never been a better time to be introduced to this film because its smarter and darker images are now even more powerful and affected.

There is no question that the Guardian 4K Limited Edition is going to be one of my best physical media statements of the year. This is exactly what the physical media does best: keep and reintroduce a film for new generations. You can buy the Limited 4K issue here. I can’t recommend it high enough.
