In 2019, Ashley Kay made an underwater swimming in Honduras, which changed her life.
On this trip, Kay met a full -time man, and the conversation they helped her to realize that he wanted to leave her career and life in Wisconsin behind and keep traveling.
“He told me he wanted him to do it before because it’s much easier and cheaper than you think. It has changed everything for me,” Kay says, CNBC do it. “I went home and worked more and more until I went out next year.”
Kay spent three years, traveling the world before she started heading.

When Kay quit in 2020, she says she had about $ 37,000, but what she fought with the majority is not a job to fill her time.
“I didn’t know how to do nothing. The first few months were very difficult and I wasn’t sure if I made the right decision,” she says.
“After I entered my travel rhythm and confidence in this experience, I never looked around or regret care.”
The next three years Kay spent, traveling the world, including South Africa. In 2022, the couple reached for Kay on Instagram to ask about her time and shared his own experience that the Toyota truck with a vacationer overcame.
Lack-is the form of an independent journey that includes adventure to distant directions, usually in a vehicle of some type.
Kaye estimates that she spent more than $ 50,000 to repair.

Having conducted a bit of his own research, Kay was all in the In-In-In and purchased a Toyota Tacoma truck for $ 42,934, according to the documents considered by CNBC Make.
Kay took the truck in South Dakota and drove it back to Wisconsin, where she had just sold a childhood house for $ 320,000.
In March 2023, Kay went to Baja California, Mexico, where she had time, placing the necessary repairs to make the truck more alive.
“My life is like a” no plan “. Most people plan this type of adventure over the years.
“It was a very funny moment, so I needed to pause and find out everything.”
It estimated that it spent more than $ 50,000 to repair. Costs included the acquisition of Kemper, the addition of solar energy, the replacement of the truck bed, the upgrade, new tires, the bumper and the installation of the electric cooler.
Kaye purchased Toyota Tacoma for $ 424.

When the truck was ready, Kay decided to travel on the Pan-American highway starting with Denver. The highway stretches from the Gulf of Prudho, Alaska to Ushuai, Argentina.
“This is a truly incredible way to travel because you can set your own pace, and if you find anywhere beautiful and calm, you can stay as long as you want,” Kay says.
“But there are pros and cons in every travel mode and a lot of red tapes and logistics that cross the boundaries. It can be depleting, especially if you are the one. You must find a balance that works for you, but overall it is definitely one of the coolest adventures of my life.”
In September 2023, the Kay was replaced by truck bed.

Kay’s time is broken between travel and vacation days. On the day of the journey, she gets up early to break everything and fasten everything in the camper before starting a five or seven-hour ride. On average, Kaye suggests that she spends $ 556 a month on gas and $ 453 per month.
“The simplest part for me is comfortable in very small spaces, and I am completely satisfied. I can spend all day in the camper and not feel smothered and claustrophobic,” Kay says. “I always see so many great spaces in nature that I am really satisfied.”
Once she gets to the destination, Kay loves to stay two -three at night before moving to the next. Because the Kaye truck has no bathroom, it uses a box for a box and a portable shower bag.
“I try to organize everything in a truck and a kemper so that it just as it should be. Inclusion is the purpose on the next day,” Kay says.
Other Kaye costs include $ 96 per month for their mobile phone and $ 200 per month for their Starlink Internet. She also spent $ 6,000 for a unique experience as a weekly underwater swimming trip to Galapagos Islands.
Kay does not regret the sale of the house she grew up to travel the world.

Kay has lived in a truck for many years, but says that the most difficult part is still adjusted and destroys.
“Although it is very simple, it’s one of the things to do every time,” she says. “If you are anyone who makes your bed every time, it’s not a problem, but if you are someone who doesn’t feel it.”
While Kay still has not finished traveling on the American highway, it is considering selling a truck early next year.
“Part of me just wants to get rid of it and move on and enter the next chapter of my life, but then most of me looks like” No, maybe just wait because I want to see some other places and just cool, “she says.” I just want to end my adventure. I didn’t get tired of living in a camper, and I wasn’t tired of this lifestyle, but I got tired of ride. “
Kay traveled to more than 20 Toyota Tacoma countries.

Kay does not know where it is settled when ever selling a truck, but a return to the US is unlikely. If it, if, buy another house in the States, Kay says it will be an investment and a source of profit if it decides to rent it.
She is currently considering life in southern France, Spain or Italy.
“Everyone has their own problems. For me, it is about finding where I want to be, and then I can fight any problems and hoops that come with that,” she says.
