Barcelona has confirmed this afternoon that the renewed camp will not be on time for the confrontation of the Joan Gamper Trophy with Como on August 10.
Work at the Barça stadium began in June 2023 and hope was to be completed and celebrated in the traditional collection of fabrics before the new season of the league.
However, the club has announced today that construction work was still underway and that numerous security guarantees could not be provided.
Barça had hoped to stage a return by phase by opening Tier by level, but this has not shown possible.
A club statement said: “Due to the size of the work done, it has been impossible to achieve all the requirements required by the regulations governing the first employment license, despite the club’s desire to launch the Spotify Camp Nou sectors.”
The club is now facing a career against time to prepare for the stadium for the first game of the season against Valencia on September 13 to September 14.
The statement added: “The club will work in hand with the Barcelona City Council and the relevant organizations to move forward in the different requirements and will communicate to FC Barcelona members any new information on the return date.”
According to Mundo Deportivo, the club has not ruled out returning to the city’s Olympic Stadium to play games if it were not ready.
The precinct hosted the Barça games during the renewals.
