Chiney Ogwumike defends Angel Reese in the midst of Wnba Criticism

Having struggled to start the season, Reese has emerged as one of the most prominent postal players in the league. On July 12, she was the fastest player in WNBA’s history to record 40 double-double career, doing so in just 54 games.

“If you’ve seen this year – I did the numbers – in May, it was on average 10 points. In June, 14. This month, 18 points per game,” said Ogwumike. “She demonstrates her guard skills, she leads her franchise.”

Off the court, Reese has found so much success. He was recently named a cover athlete for the WNBA issue of NBA 2K26, has the social media followers of any WNBA player, has a signature shoe with Reebok and began his own base to support young women in under -represented communities.

“She’s a supermarket in my eyes for what she does on and off court,” Ogwumike concluded. “And I want her to feel confident and know that people get it back and how she grows and she does everything she needs to be. And then some.”
