Burkin -fos military leaders trimmed the election commission, taking control of future polls

Burkin’s military rulers dissolved the country’s election commission, calling it a waste of money.

The Interior Ministry will be engaged in the elections in the future, RTB state TV reports.

Since the seizure of power in September 2022, the leaders of the coup has initiated broad reforms, including the postponement of the election, which will return to civilian administration.

AFP quotes the Minister of Territorial Administration Emil Zebr, saying that the election commission was “subsidized” of about $ 870,000 (650,000 pounds) per year.

The abolition of the commission “strengthens our sovereign control over the electoral process and at the same time limits foreign influences,” he added.

After three years ago, he came to power against the backdrop of criticism that the civilian authorities failed to cope with the growing Islamist rebel, the military leaders rejected the assistance of the former colonial power of France for the benefit of Russia.
