A man who killed a British backpack Peter Falkonio dies

Bradley Murdak, an Australian man convicted of killing British backpack Peter Soloconio in 2001, died.

67 -year -old Merdak was serving a life imprisonment in Alice -Springs, in the northern territory of Australia.

In recent weeks, he has been treated at the Hospital in Alis -Springs at the throat.

The BBC reported the Department of Northern Sentences that the death of a person was in custody.

In 2005, Merdak was convicted of killing Mr Falkonio, but never revealed his body.

In July 2001, Mr. Folkonio was shot dead on the remote area of the highway near the northern Barrou -Krych, about 300 km (186 miles) north of Ellis -Springs.

At that time, a 28-year-old boy traveled across Australia with his girlfriend John Lis, also from the UK.

Murdak was also convicted of trying to abduction and attack on Ms. Lis, who managed to escape, hiding in Scrub Outback a few hours before she managed to report help.

Merdak was 43 years old when he committed crimes.

The performance partially inspired the 2001 horror movie Wolf Creek.

Last month, police in Australia announced a new award up to $ 500,000 (240,000 pounds) for information leading to the opening of the remains of the killed British backpack.

Acting Commander Mark Grawu from the Northern Police said at a press conference in late June: “Police still hopes that someone can provide vital information to assist in this search.”

“We are aware of the passage of the time that has spoken but never late to extend your hand and start a conversation with the police,” the mane said.

He stated that in this press conference the police “made numerous approaches” to Merdak, including in June, but stated that “unfortunately … in all cases he decided not to do police.”

Acting the commander of the mane stated that he wanted to “try, and at least bring some resolution to the Peter’s family, bringing home his remains,” – and said he was talking to his family about the award.
