While Carrie Bradshaw is trying to make the most of her long -distance romance with Aidan Shaw, unlikely friendship forms with her new neighbor, Duncan Reeves.
During the chapter on Thursday, July 10, of And just like thatCarrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) throws a birthday party to Charlotte (Kristin Davis) In her home Gramercy Park. Before maintaining the bash, Carrie warns Duncan (Jonathan’s cake) About the “Karaoke, Birthday, Cosmopolitans” level of noise that could disturb his work.
“Instead of giving you a hotel room – which I considered – I urge you to join us,” said Carrie.
To Carrie’s surprise, Duncan reveals that he is a big fan of karaoke. Surprise even more? It actually seems for the party.
While Charlotte opened presents in front of her guests – Lupone patti Among them as the mother of love Anthony – Duncan asks Carrie to meet him on the terrace for smoke. He provides a bright review of the early draft of his first ever novel, saying he was “shipped” by writing it. (Earlier this season, the biographer and Carrie agreed to exchange pages while working on their new projects.)
Throughout their talk, Duncan places his hand on Carrie’s shoulder, and she takes a sip from his drink. Back inside, Miranda (Nixon’s Cynthia) Sees the duo joking together and watching with a cozy smile.

Craig Blankenhorn/MaxWhen the celebrations die, Miranda holds up with Carrie in the kitchen. “I think Charlotte had a fun time.
Carrie delays her cleaning, asking Miranda what she suggests. “Wait, are you upset?” Said Miranda. “I don’t understand what’s happening at the moment, we just made a fun little party discussion.”
Less than impression, Carrie reminds Miranda that she is still with Aidan (John Corbett). The tension is boiling over when Miranda tells Carrie that she is refreshing to see her being left freely for the night.
“I’m not saying anything happens,” Miranda continues. “Just … sometimes you seem to work so hard with Aidan.”
Carrie answers, “Well, yes. I am probably not ‘effortlessly,’” with reference to the vigorous romance of Miranda with the BBC producer Joy (Dolly Wells). “Aidan and I are over 20 years in, and it’s complicated at the moment. So yes, maybe I’ve laughed and got a sip from Scotch. I have a laugh and sip Scotch.”
In the midst of the untidy back and forth, Miranda quotes the first line of Carrie’s new book: “The woman was wondering what she had found herself in.” Carrie explains that she is writing a fictional story set in the 19th century.
The conversation is disrupted by the son of Miranda, Brady (Niall cunningham), but there seems to be no hard feelings. Carrie and Miranda embrace as they say their good nights.
Aidan was not present for Plaid as he and Carrie continued to shape their lives – apart and together. During a previous chapter of AjltAidan was revealed Slept with his ex-wifeKathy (Rosemarie Dewitt), but Carrie brushed him away and repeated her commitment to Aidan.
Before season 3 for the first time this summer suggested in the “New faces” are introduced to fans. “Carrie has a wonderful story line. The story takes some big swings and we fold some big ideas for those big swings,” he teased in December 2024. “Some of the male characters are back, and there are some new men.”
