IBF Eliminator: Iglesias vs. Shishkin, 168, September 4, Mont -Real

Osleys Iglesias will fight against Vladimir Shishkin in a mid -weight title eliminator to determine the mandatory challenger for the Canelo Alvarez champion on September 4 at the Montreal Casino in Montreal, Canada.

It is a great step for Cuban Iglesias talent (13-0, 12 kos), which has been fighting under the radar against mainly veterans and unknowns in Canada and Germany since he became a professional in 2019. Iglesias, 27, is ready to get in a position to fight for the IBF title.

The Churches’ tie power

“The tornado is unstoppable. On September 4, I will be victorious, I will defend my IBO title and turn into the mandatory Challenger of IBF. Step by step, belt by belt, I will be at the top very soon,” promises Osleys Iglesias.

Known for his power in one blow, Iglesias has eliminated his last five opponents in five rounds. One of them was the well -known former title of the World Title of Medium Weight, Marcelo Coceres, whom Osley annihilated in a round. Coceres is the guy who dropped Edgar Berlanga in the ninth round of his struggle in 2021.

Shishkin (16-1, 10 kos) is classified in place 2 IBF, and reaches a 12-round unanimous loss of decision to William Scull last October in Germany. He surpassed Scull in each round and seemed to have done more than enough to win a wide decision. Surprisingly, the judges gave it to Scull.

The IBF chose to keep Shishkin in spite of this loss. Therefore, he now has the opportunity to secure a lucrative world title against Canelo if he wins against Osley on September 4.

IBF Title implications

Knowing how the IBF Canelo champion has worked in the past, it will avoid fighting Iglesias if it becomes its obligatory. As such, Alvarez will end up being stripped of his IBF title just like when he chose not to defend William Scull.

Iglesias will be elevated to the state of the IBF champion outside the ring. Hopefully this scenario does not reproduce because the fans would like to see Canelo do their fist in the true test in 168, as he has had a fairly easy walk since he moved to the division in 2020.
