Shakira reaches out to help victims and families damaged by the ongoing floods in the heart of Texas.
“Dear San Antonio, our hearts and prayers are with those that the flood affects in the heart of Texas,” Shakira wrote on x On Saturday, July 5.
He continued, “If you would like to join me in giving, click on the link below. Your help is important and valued.” Singer A link was added to a gift platform operated by Catholic charities.
The singer’s performance in Texas on Saturday night was his last until her tour resumed in California in August.
At least 70 people have died after flash flooding ate Texas Hill Country over the holiday weekend. Rescuers tried to assist as many people as they could along the banks of the Guadalupe, where water levels rose quickly while many residents were asleep. A dozen children are missing from Mystic Camp, a children’s summer camp located in the area at the time of the flood.
Of those 70, at least 59 are residents of Kerr. The deceased consists of 38 adults and 21 children. At the time of publication, 11 women and one counselor are still assumed missing from the camp. While County Kerr was considered the flood of the flood, some of the victims lived in other parts of the state, including Sir Burnet, Sir Tom Green, County of Travis, and Sir Williamson.

The flood occurred after the river broke its shores following a period of fast and intense rainfall, Reuters reported. Officials have been able to save more than 850 people, including those who found shelter in trees, the news outlet also noted.
According to Reuters, about 700 women were attending Mystic Camp at the time of the flood.
“Our cabins on top of hilltop Tippity were completely flooded with water. That is, y’all have seen the complete destruction, we did not even imagine this could happen,” counselor Katharine Somerville He said in an interview on Fox News on Sunday. He added that all his campers were safe and accounted for.

Pictures of the scene show that water has risen at least six feet from the floor in the cabins where the girls were sleeping, and some of the cabins are now losing walls that probably washed away.
