Todd and Julie Chrisley reveal prison battles and life behind bars

The stars of reality Melt and Julie Chrisley had a lot to say about their previous imprisonment.

The Chrisleys were both released on May 28, 2025, after They got pardons from President Donald Trump the previous day. The pair were originally sentenced to 19 years together after being convicted of federal fraud payments and hiding their wealth from tax authorities. The pair reported to prison in January 2023. They continue to maintain their innocence.

Since their release, the duo has been unlucky -for -time what life was like behind bars.

Here’s a glimpse of what Todd and Julie Chrisley have said about spending 28 months in prison.

Prison is “dirty disgusting” and “scary”

In an interview on December 8 on Chris Cuomo’s Cuomo demonstrateTodd described the conditions in the federal prison camp Pensacola as “dirty disgusting.”

“The food is dated and is at least out of date, it is a year ago. “These guys get – I don’t know – they get 1,000 calories a day.”

“You have rats, you have squirrels at the storage facility where the food is,” Todd added. “They covered it with plastic and then ripped the ceiling out because of all the black mold and found a dead cat in the ceiling, and dropped down on top of the food.”

Julie, held at the Lexington Federal Medical Center in Kentucky, had a “scary” experience in prison, explained Chapter July 1 from her “unlocked” podcast.

“I was (in) a satellite camp away from a federal medical center, which was home to all custody levels,” said Julie. “So, the fence and razor wire and security were there. Where I was specifically it wasn’t, but it was next to it.”

They contacted their faith

During a press conference following his release, Todd january for him to get a “glow pop.” He then expanded on how he passed the time in prison, which included deepening his Christian faith.

“Actually I have more access to better products right now that I’m out,” he explained. “I had nothing to do except reading and to work out. I worked out every morning at 10:45 until 12, with my friends there, and I read, and my walk with Christ came deeper, and I spoke to my daughter every day (and) to go after a greyson. I was able to e -mail with Julie every day.

The reunion was overwhelming

Todd and Julie finally reconnected after two years apart when they were all released on May 28.

“It was overwhelming,” Todd said at the time. “Julie and I have been together for over 30 years. She is my best friend. We’ve brought up our children together. We’ve had all the unusual things. We’ve gone through breast cancer together and was great to be home.”

Make friends

During the July 1 chapter of a “unlocked” podcast Savannah’s daughter, Todd revealed that he made good friends while behind bars. When his room arrived on the first day, “all these things lay on my bed.”

“I had read that you (had been) were going to be taking nothing for free because then you had to stop something, and I’m too old to be fighting all these people,” he continued, before he shared him get the items from a man called a jig.

Jig told Todd that he was told to take care of the reality star in prison. “I said, ‘Well, I can take care of myself.’ He said, ‘I have no doubt. “From that point on, Jig and I became best friends.”

Julie also made friends in prison. In the same podcast episode, she revealed that the first woman she met had told her that she would “hate” life there.

Todd Chrisley takes pleasure in the little things after being released from prison. “I walked in the door and then I was bombed,” said Julie. “I walked in the door, someone was there to show me where to go. I didn’t know at the time, but a girl got me to the room, had a bed for me – a nice bed, really – it ended to be my bunker later.”

He added, “It was very overwhelming because people were still coming in, and because I was new, and people knew who I was. It was really overwhelming for the first few days for me.”
