Jhon Duran joins Fenerbahce on loan after six months in al-Nassr

Colombian striker, Jhon Duran, has joined Turkish Giants Fenerbahce in a loan during the season, only six months after his great prestige change next to the Saudi League, in Nassr.

The young man, 21, moved to Turkey this week, after a whirlwind a few months since he left Aston Villa in January for an amount of € 77 million (£ 64.5 million), including accessories.

Duran wrote a five and a half years contract with NASSR, but it is now planned to continue its development under Jose Mourinho in Istanbul.

During his short time in Saudi Arabia, Duran impressed himself in cleaning 12 goals in 18 appearances, helping the NassR to a third place in the 2024-25 season, achieving the possible champions at the Ittihad by 13 points.

Fenerbahce, meanwhile, hopes that the addition of Duran will be able to provide the attacking increase that they have lacked. The club ended the Super LIG season as a runner -up for a fourth consecutive year, finishing 11 points behind Galatasaray’s rivals.

Mourinho’s first season also saw that the club was leaving both the Turkish Cup and the Europa League in the quarterfinals and 16 -year -olds respectively.

Club officials are optimistic that Duran’s arrival could replicate the impact of Signing of Victor Osimhen’s Blockbuster loans from Galatasaray last season, the Nigerian striker scored 37 goals during the campaign.

Before moving to the Nassr, Duran had been on the edge of the starting line to Aston Villa under Uni Emery. Despite limited initiatives, only seven in total, he still managed 12 goals in 29 appearances in the first half of the season.

Generally, Duran scored 20 goals in 78 games for Midlands, which signed it from the Chicago Fire MLS fire in January 2023 for up to 17.75 million £.

Interest in the young striker had been strong before January departure, with West Ham he presented an offer rejected during the summer of 2024. They returned to the winter window with a second offer of £ 57 million, which was rejected again by Villa.

In Al Nassr, Duran joined a starred template that includes Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane and Aymeric Laporte. Ronaldo, now 40 years old, recently expanded his stay in Riyadh with a new two-year contract, keeping it in the club until the age of 42.
