During an influencer Tanner martinAn emotional funeral service, his mother revealed how he found a way to cope with his phase IV cancer diagnosis.
“You have been an excellent example of faith,” his mother, Kimberly Martinsaid in praise sent during His Memorial Service on Saturday, July 5,. “Even when you are very ill with cancer, if you could, you would attend Sacrament meetings … in your PJs and your dress.”
He added, “You taught me that you can see the blessings and love in our Savior in any situation. Because of that, it brings happiness.”

According to Tanner, he also credited his final cancer for his introduction to “the nurses and other doctors and patients (who are) so incredible.”
“I really feel wonderful, ‘” Kimberly remembered, before addressing her late son directly. “You chose to be happy and grateful even when you were not feeling well, (or even) when you were in the face of adversity. You were ready to share a smile, always ready to raise others.”
Tanner has been survived by his parents, Kimberly and Thomas Martinbrother Spencer MartinWright’s wife and their new daughter.
“Watch you and Shay Grow your family Been such a blessing and miracle to all of us, ”his mother continued.” You have left an incredible legacy of faith, kindness, love and what it means to be a true disciple of our Savior for our sweet Lou Amy. “
Tanner’s father also offered praise on Saturday.
“It’s an honor and a pleasure to be his father – and he’s still,” said Thomas tearful. “Shay has just been a wonderful companion. They had two years before he was diagnosed, and then they had five years with doctors’ visits to the battle and the fighting. There were still many good times in those five years, but there were still many other works too. Sometimes it doesn’t seem fair that I had 30 father days, and Tanner had one.”
