Amy Davidson Opens for her persistent sobriety journey and how she sides any potential dangers.
“Let’s talk triggers. I went one of my favorite windows/restaurants to celebrate a dear friend of me yesterday and I was surprised (and not fully prepared) by my response,” wrote Davidson, 45, Instagram Post On Friday, July 4. “I felt slapped in the face with a huge life lesson. Being around wine, something I would drink every day, with boyfriends celebrating a friend’s milestone birthday, everywhere I looked we were surrounded by wine and wine and more wine – it was challenging at the beginning and I had in my time.”
Davidson went on to explain that she quietly asked herself “What would happen if I had a zip or just one glass of wine?” In “feeling jealous” of the people who “could enjoy it without the internal dialogue of wanting more and more.”
“Being among the ‘normality’ of drinking alcohol and not taking part was a very big step for me,” he continued. “I haven’t participated in six months. I slowly change my boss from losing wine to be beyond being grateful for not eating it anymore. It sneaks up on you. The cravings, feeling like it’s going to fix a bad day, so it’s your best friend you get to socialize with on the couch, your sidekick, your Sidekick, your confidence building, your liquid builder, your liquid builder.
He added, “Sorry friends, but that’s all the bulls ***. Alcohol simply takes from us and what we think it gives us in exchange is a facade. I’m not preaching that I’m sharing. I’ve been learning too much way not to share … whatever, we’ll save it for another day.”
In February the 8 simple rules Alum announced that it was 30 days sober in another Instagram post.
“I’m one month sober – today. And counting. And I’m so happy,” he said at the time. “I feel very good and I’m excited and I’m looking forward to sharing my journey.”
Since then, Davidson has documented her sobriety journey in celebrating important milestones, including 100 days sober.
“Thanksgiving does not even explain it,” Davidson wrote at the time after performing her 100 -day milestone. “I’ve been quite Mia lately. Not sure why? I’ll try to be more present. I’m still here to share my experience, possibly help you with yours, and seek advice from those ahead of me.”
