Shanto, who is currently one of Bangladesh’s best batters, has been in headlines for some time.
He recently abandoned Bangladesh’s test captain after the 1-0 defeat in the Sri Lanka National Cricket Testing series.
Shanto said he decided to give up the captaincy for the improvement of the team because three different captains between formats is not the correct way to move forward. Above all, Bangladesh had three different captains: Shanto in tests, Mehidy Hasan Miraz in Odes and Litton Das in T20is – in three formats.
In fact, Najmul Hossain Shanto was selected as the patron saint of the Bangladesh team format, but abandoned the Captaincy of the T20I earlier this year and was recently sacked as Captain Hate, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz replacing him.
Meanwhile, selectors have decided to leave Najmul Hossain Shanto from the T20i team. Shanto played only one of the six T20i games for Bangladesh, despite being part of the previous series staff against the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan, and in 2024, he promised only 18.84 in 21 T20is.
Apart from Shanto, the BCB selection committee has fallen Khaled AhmedTanvir Islam, Hasan Mahmudand Souma Sarkar from T20i template.
To replace the mentioned axical players, selectors added Mohammad Naim, Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Mohammad Sifuddin to the squad.
Veteran Pacers Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman have joined the T20i squad after recovering from their respective injuries, and also played the first hatred of the series against Lanka Lions.
Naim, who has played 35 T20IS, has returned to the squad at the back of a good performance in the Domestic 2024-25, where he was the maximum current at both the BPL and the NCL T20S.
