BBC on the French beach when the police cut a “taxi” migrant who is heading to the UK

Among the chaotic scenes, the French gendarmes got into small waters on the beach south of the boule and used knives to cut a inflatable little boat stuffed with men, women and children, which was dangerous, in waves.

The intervention was very unusual. French police usually comply with strict rules that forbid them to go out to the sea when they are threatened.
