When LTW arrives home, she calls Charlotte, revealing that she did not say goodbye to her father because she focused too much on work. He then hits an LTW Inbox from Lucille, her father’s theater manager, with an invitation to his funeral. In spite of LTW’s otherwise applications, Lucille puts theatrical spin on the memorial, which begins with a song of Pippin. LTW was only given three minutes to speak in honor of her father, bringing Herbert up on stage with her for support.

Craig Blankenhorn/MaxOutside the theater, Herbert’s mother offers LTW some words of wisdom, noting, “If you are not by your beloved when they pass, it means that their spirit does not want you there. They want you to remember them in the way they were, not in their last hour.”
Back to Carrie and Aidan. Following Carrie’s catastrophic visit to VirginiaAidan compensates for his promise to use the key he gave him their home park – Type of. In seeking a romantic posture, Aidan throws pebbles by Carrie’s window but accidentally crushed it. It promises to set it stable, but Carrie explains that the historical glass is irreversible.
“Why is nothing going my way?” Aidan is wondering before telling Carrie about the latest battle with Wyatt, his youngest son. “Wyatt wouldn’t go on the F *** ing plane (for his desert program). His mind changed at the gate. We were like, ‘It’s only a week. You go.’ And then all the way home, Kathy sits in the car in silence and we pull up to the farm and she looks at me right in my face and says, ‘What did we do so bad we had to send our child to the Grand Tetons?’ And she is crying. ”
Aidan tries to get the perfect pane of glass to replace the broken window, but nothing measures. He mourns that he “spoils” everything before dropping a bomb even more: he slept with his ex-wife.
“After the airport, it was so upset, I mean, we were both. We probably tried to comfort each other alone. It happened. And it was a mistake, we both said.
Even more surprisingly than the revelation was Carrie’s reaction to him. “I understand. Or I don’t know, maybe I’m in a shock,” he said. “No, I’m doing. I understand how that might happen.”
Aidan apologizes for betraying Carrie. “We agreed to wait for each other and I slept with someone else,” explained, confused by her response.
“Well, I didn’t agree with that,” Carrie answers. “(I agreed) I would wait until you could be with me.… You expected me not to sleep with anyone else for five years? That’s what you agreed to and even you couldn’t do.”
Aidan breaks down, but Carrie remains calm. “Oh, my God, this is so masculine. Or medieval, I don’t know. My mind is just racing,” he said. “Sleeping with Kathy because you’re upset, I understand. I have a harder time understanding why we haven’t had this discussion until now. … I don’t want to sleep with other people. I want to sleep with you. And I still want it.”
The couple tries to move on, but tension surfaces again when Aidan meets Carrie neighborDuncan (Jonathan’s cake), which stops past dropping a chapter of his next biography. Aidan leaves, putting the manuscript on the table for Carrie.
