David Benavidez will fight Anthony Yarde this November in Saudi Arabia, defending his recent claim of heavy weight of the WBC. The combat is part of the “Riyadh season” line, as confirmed by Turki Alralikh.
Instead of dealing with real threats, Benavidez goes to the safe route: it is made with the garden, a punch that has already been stopped twice when it counted.
Anthony Yarde gets another title, why?
Anthony Yarde (24-3, 23 kos) is a heavy hand fighter with decent clips on YouTube, but nothing last year says “title contestant”. Since losing in front of Beterbiev, he has fought a gentle opposition and remained in safe waters. Somehow, this is enough for another trait.
Benavidez (29-0, 24 kos) did not beat anyone to get the WBC heavy belt. Achieved Updated to Full Champion on April 7 After Dmitry Bivol vacated the title to pursue a trilogy with Artur Beeterbiev. No punch was launched, no big struggle was won, only a belt delivered thanks to some well -timed procedures.
According to his credit, Benavidez said he I didn’t want to win the belt without winning. Then he is now turning and fighting the garden – which has already been flattened twice worldwide – his defense of the first title. According to his team, the choice was between Callum Smith and Anthony Yarde. The two British are classified in the second and third place with the WBC, but we never act like this would be a 50/50 struggle.
Yarde was always the easiest sale: less complications, more flash style, and much less chance of dragging Benavidez in something ugly. This is a selection in the classification logic to cover the fact that the belt was not won in the ring to begin with.
If Benavidez wants to take serious weight seriously, there is only one path: to fight the real names. Bivol. Beterbiev. Buatsi. Smith. Until then, it is all the noise and the theater.
