Juventus has 10 players who request to be replaced during the loss of the Club World Cup in Real Madrid

Juventus main coach, Igor Tudor, revealed that ten players requested to be replaced during the defeat of the Club World Cup in Real Madrid, due to the overwhelming heat and humidity in Miami.

The game, which was played at Hard Rock Stadium, took place in extreme conditions, with temperatures increasing up to 30 degrees and the moisture levels that reached 70%.

Although the teams are allowed a maximum of five substitutions in regular time, and six if the game goes on an additional time, Tudor could only make the permitted five.

“In the end, ten players asked to be replaced,” Tudor said after the defeat by 1-0.

“The exhaustion was incredible. There is the tension of this game, which burns your energy. Then there is this heat, which really comes to you, and the third thing that completes the conditions is playing in this humidity.”

The extreme climate has been a constant theme throughout the Club World Cup this summer in the United States, with various teams and coaches struggling to deal with.

Borussia Manager Dortmund, Niko Kovac, said that unpleasant conditions during group victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in Cincinnati: “He sweat me as if he had just left a sauna.”

Anywhere else, Benfica’s clash with Bayern Munich in Charlotte saw that Mercury reached 36 degrees, while Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca described the training in Philadelphia as “impossible” under a “Code Red” heat warning.

FIFA currently requires “cooling pauses” depending on the temperature of the damp light bulb balloon, a combined measure of heat and humidity.

According to existing regulations, compulsory breakups are triggered when the WBGT exceeds 32 degrees. So far, refrigeration breaks have been applied in 33 of 56 games during the tournament.

However, the global union of players has argued that these breaks should begin once the WBGT reaches 28 degrees and that the coincidences should be completely delayed if the readings exceed 32 degrees, a lower threshold than FIFA’s current guidelines.

With the United States scheduled to host the 2026 World Cup, questions about the security of players in extreme heat gain a lot of urgency.

Reports say that the programming of key matches, including the final, until 9 am, must be taken into account if similar weather patterns persist.
