Why Klopp chose Núñez about Isak

Liverpool’s former director, Jurgen Klopp, chose to sign the Darwin Núñez striker ahead of Alexander Isak in the summer of 2022, according to former Reds research director Ian Graham.

Liverpool spent £ 64 million in Núñez de Benfica, a quota that could increase to 85 million £, while Newcastle spent a similar amount to sign Isak from Real Sociedad on the same transfer window.

Graham said that Klopp had been persuaded in the past to sign Mo Salah, a decision that turned out to be a master’s degree.

Núñez has been strongly related to a transfer to the series in Napoli this summer. He only started eight league games last season and scored five times at the Premier League, as Arne Slot’s team won the title.

Isak is still linked to the largest clubs in Europe, including Liverpool and Arsenal, but will have the Champions League football this season with the side of Eddie Howe.
